Goodbye to a Truly Great Bluesman and Friend

Marc Chover passed away May 20th, 2009, after a bout with cancer. I can't tell you how heartbroken I am. He was a great friend and inspiration. His fingerstyle blues was as good as anyone I've heard. He was simply the best I've ever played with and I had hoped to play with him a lot more and steal a lot more of his licks. He was multi-talented: equally at home on the guitar, the bass and several other instruments. His career dates back to the early 60's in the Detroit folk scene. Mark is credited with teaching Taj Mahal how to finger pick. He also played with Gordan Lightfoot and was offered the job of being Lightfoot's fulltime guitarplayer. The list goes on and if you google Marc Chover, you can see how much he did and what a big influence he was. Marc, you will be sorely missed, but I'm sure you've got a better gig now. We will meet again, and it will hopefully be a very long time from now.
